EastEnders fans ‘work out’ return date for Cindy Beale after spotting clue
EastEnders fans think they have figured out when Cindy Beale will return to the hit BBC One soap thanks to a new clue on Wednesday's episode.
It was announced earlier this year that Michelle Collins is taking back her role as Cindy, who supposedly died in prison during childbirth in 1998.
Not only that but more recently it was reported that Ian Beale, played by Adam Woodyatt, will be making a return to the BBC One soap alongside Cindy. Fans will recall that Ian and Cindy were married between 1989 to 1997.
While details surrounding their return and how their characters reportedly reunited off-screen remain unknown, Kathy Beale appeared to drop a hint on Wednesday night.
Kathy, played by Gillian Taylforth, is busy planning her wedding to fiancé Rocky Cotton and Wednesday's episode saw the couple finally confirm the date.
During the scenes, Kathy said of her upcoming nuptials: "Yeah, more the merrier, I want everyone there – friends, family – a real celebration. And it wouldn't be right without my son there, too. I want Ian at the wedding."
Fans were quick to speculate that with the mention of Ian this could mean his, as well as Cindy's, return is imminent and they could be back in Walford very soon.
Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Ian is gonna turn up at Kathy's wedding with Cindy, isn't he?!!! Pass the popcorn! I am SEATED #EastEnders."
A different account put: "Prediction: Ian & Cindy are gonna show up unannounced at Kathy & Rocky’s wedding next month #EastEnders."
Another follower wrote: "Who wrote the episode on November 5th 1998. when Ian is told Cindy has died giving birth in prison? Who has written the episode airing on June 22nd? #EastEnders" as they shared a snap showing both episodes are written by writer Rob Gittins.
While a different fan added: "Cindy Beale and Ian Beale return date confirmed?? #EastEnders."
It comes as fans have been predicting that Cindy is in fact new character George Knight's mystery ex-wife Rose, who walked out on him and their family years ago.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Ok, I have a theory about the Knight family!! George was married to Cindy Beale so she's the mum of Anna and Gina and Cindy's sister was called Gina!!” while another said: “#Eastenders The missing/"dead" mother of the new family in Eastenders is Cindy Beale. Calling it now.”
