The EastEnders cast are a close knit bunch, which means that when one of them has a birthday, their co-stars are quick to send their best wishes.
Legend of the show Emma Barton took to social media to wish co-star Danielle Harold a happy birthday, ahead of her exit from the show.
Danielle, who plays Lola Pearce, is set to bow out in an emotional episode this evening (May 31), as Lola dies from a brain tumour.
She has worked closely with Honey Mitchell star Emma for a number of years, as Honey is married to Lola’s granddad, Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).
Taking to Instagram, Emma posted a sweet photo of the two of them together, tagging Danielle in the special post.
‘Happy Birthday to this superstar!’ She wrote, followed by star, heart, balloon and cake emojis.
She finished the post by saying ‘I adore you’.
Fans were quick to send the actress birthday messages too, as well as praising her for her ‘amazing’ acting throughout this storyline.
‘Happy birthday to Danielle. The acting from you all over the last few months has been epic,’ one fan said, adding a kiss.
‘Happy birthday Danielle amazing acting definitely getting an award or 3,’ another wrote.
A third said: ‘Happy birthday Danielle! Looking forward to seeing you sweep the soap awards.’
Danielle recently revealed that filming her final EastEnders scenes was ‘the most difficult thing’ she’s ever done.
‘To put yourself in that mindset, it was really difficult to slow the body down, doing the breathing, everything.’
However, the challenge paid off, with fans heaping praise onto her for her honest and emotional portrayal of Lola’s brain tumour journey.
Lola was diagnosed in November, and later learnt that she only had several weeks left to live, as her palliative chemotherapy hadn’t been able to stop her tumour from spreading.
There certainly won’t be a dry eye in the house as Danielle’s final scenes air tonight.
