EastEnders legend Dot Cotton (played by the late June Brown) will be killed off in emotional scenes next week. News of the beloved laundrette assistant’s death spreads around Walford as the festive drama on BBC begins. June Brown passed away in April this year and she has portrayed the hugely popular Dot since 1985.
Albert Square will be saying goodbye to one of its most loved residents next week, when Dot bids farewell to the BBC drama.
There is monumental news on the horizon when Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy) misses a phone call.
With her mobile out of battery, Sonia takes her time to respond to the missed calls.
She is told about the sad death of her step-grandmother and breaks down in tears, as much of the Square will do too.

Meanwhile, official spoilers for the soap also show Rocky Cotton’s (Brian Conley) mission to help Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) reaches its climax.
Rocky has tried to find out more information about Harvey’s mysterious lover Sophia.
Having enlisted most of the patrons of the Queen Vic for help, he begins to build a head of steam in his quest.
After seeing Harvey slouched in his messy home, the helpful friend wanted to perk him up after seeing him in the doldrums.
Despite frustrating his partner Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) as part of his pursuit, the businessman gets Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) on board too.
Rocky previously annoyed Kathy by spending more time on his Harvey mission than on his own relationship.
When he reaches breaking point, Bobby gets involved further and continues to do some digging.
His research leads him to find out Harvey has been sending money to the enigma Sophia.
The woman who he exchanged messages with on a dating app has been speculated about at length by his neighbours.
Alfie Moon (Shane Ritchie) has guessed she may be ‘catfishing’ the hapless Harvey, so this money arrangement does not sit well.
Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) strikes up a plan to snatch Harvey’s mobile and screenshot as much information as possible.
Freddie and Bobby intend to tell fellow investigator Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) their plan, before Freddie reveals an interesting breakthrough.
Rocky ponders on whether to tell Harvey about Freddie’s discovery and his mind is made up once Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) gets involved.
Dotty finds them debating and demands they tell their friend about Freddie’s new information.
Harvey continues to send money to Sophia, which proves to be the clincher for Rocky and co.
After over a week of research they tell him all they know about the illusive Sophia.
How will Harvey react to their revelation and will the news of Dot’s death help to bring the square together?
