EastEnders spoilers: Drugs horror for Ben as he spirals out of control

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is set to find himself in serious danger in EastEnders, when he gives in to the temptation of drugs to try and deal with his recent rape ordeal. 

The local mechanic has been seriously, and understandably, struggling and this has led to him reaching the point of breakdown. 

So when he bumps into a friend from his past, it soon emerges that James’ influence will send Ben even further over the edge.

After seeing Ben at the Arches where he is a customer, Ben later has an almighty clash with Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) when he accidentally punches her and his apology falls flat when he refuses to entertain her plea that he seeks help. 

With Phil (Steve McFadden) busy, Ben has no one to turn to but when he bumps into James, he agrees to go for a drink with him. 

He takes him to The Arches where they begin to kiss and Ben then takes up James’ offer and takes  drugs he has offered. 

Ben wakes up in The Arches and tries to cover when Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Keol) enters, hiding the drugs and dismissing Kheerat’s concerns.

But it soon becomes clear to Kathy and Phil in a subsequent display of crisis that Ben is high. 

With Ben’s torment over his rape ordeal and his sadness at losing Callum and then later confession to the Panesars that he killed Jags, Ben is falling apart in a huge way. 

And a dependence on drugs to take the pain away can only make things worse…
