EastEnders star Danielle Harold reveals if Jay is the love of Lola's life

There is sadness in her hearts whenever we write about Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in EastEnders, knowing what’s ahead.

We are of course making reference to her upcoming brain tumour storyline, which will sadly see Lola die.

EastEnders is working alongside Brain Tumour Research and Macmillan Cancer Support on the storyline, which will begin this autumn as viewers watch Lola and her loved ones deal with her diagnosis.

The storyline will follow the experience of Lola, and those around her, as she faces her new reality of being a young person living with a brain tumour.

On taking on the storyline, Danielle Harold said: ‘It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts.

‘Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heartbreaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories.

‘They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them. I wouldn’t be able to do this storyline without their support.’

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer added: ‘It was vital for us to work alongside Macmillan and Brain Tumour Research to take on, and accurately present, such a profound and emotional storyline for Lola, one that many viewers may relate to.

‘Danielle has thoughtfully relayed the realities of being diagnosed with a brain tumour with grace and understanding.

In perhaps true soap fashion, before the heartbreak comes the happiness and this time, it’s in the form of Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).

Let’s face it, Jay and Lola were meant to be.

They’ve had their ups and their downs, but the recent scenes that saw them reunite just felt right and for Danielle Harold, she completely agrees.

‘Jay and Lola are meant to be together! It’s always been like that, even when they’ve been with other people. They always come back to each other in the end.’

Despite the excitement of the relationship, Danielle explains that Lola still has her concerns due to their rocky history together – she wants to know that things are completely solid between her and Jay before they go Walford Official.

‘When Lola first gets back together with Jay, obviously they’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years, so she just wants to make sure they’re ok before they tell Lexi and everyone else’, she said.

‘She wants to see how it goes for them before everyone knows this time. But Lexi does get wind of it and finds out Lola has lied to her and doesn’t take that well at all!’
