During the festive special of EastEnders, BBC viewers were devastated when Danny Dyer left his role after nine years. However, he’s set to star in a brand-new comedy series on BBC Two called Henpocalypse!
Created by writer Caroline Moran, Henpocalypse! will follow the journey of West Midlander and Bridezilla Zara.
Before the big day, she heads off to a remote cottage in Wales to enjoy her hen do, although things quickly take a turn when the apocalypse strikes.
Unequipped to deal with the breakdown of human civilization, with only a car only full of hen-do props, Zara and her friends must do what they can to try and survive.
Venturing out into the post-apocalyptic world, the group of girls quickly discover the entire male population has gone, with the exception of stripper Drew (Ben McGregor).

Danny Dyer features in the show as a figment of one of the Birmingham bridesmaid’s imaginations who comes to her as a mentor and counsellor.
Details about the show reveal: “As the nation’s favourite geezer, Danny Dyer made a big impression on socially awkward Birmingham bridesmaid, Jen.
“So when she finds herself in a brutal post-apocalyptic world, it’s Danny Dyer who comes to her in her moment of crisis.
“Taking on the role of mentor and counsellor, he provides sage advice, psychological insight and weapons training, setting her on the path to her true destiny.”
Although there is yet to be a release date for the BBC Two comedy, Danny revealed he found the script hilarious.
He said: “When I saw the pilot for Henpocalypse!, I pi***ed myself laughing.
“I was so honoured to be asked to be a part of such an amazing job. You’re all gonna f*****g love it, it’s hilarious.”
However, if fans can’t wait to see Danny on their screen in Henpocalypse!, they’re able to see him in a slightly different role in the new quiz show cheat.

Presented alongside former Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Taylor, both she and Danny welcome a batch of contestants who have the power to blag their way to the final.
Contestants are able to answer the question if they know it, although if they have no idea what the correct answer is, they can press a button that will show them.
However, the other players won’t know whether or not people have pressed their button to be given the answer which means they have to work out who among them is lying.
Appearing on an episode of The One Show, the duo were questioned on what their specific roles were.
Danny said: “Well first of all it’s a very odd duo, it does work for some reason.
“I was trying to think about what I do in it because Ellie brings sophistication and class.”
Confessing he wasn’t entirely sure what his part in the quiz show was, host Alex Jones couldn’t help but have a cheeky swipe at the soap star.
She replied: “The thing is Ellie asks the questions and you’re faffing about really. You know, sort of on the side with the contestants, in the nicest possible way.”
Cheat is available to watch on Netflix.
