EastEnders star says Sharon 'fulfils Keanu's wants and needs' ahead of passion

Passion gets the better of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) in upcoming EastEnders episodes as the undeniable attraction between the two former lovers leads them to have a steamy encounter.

‘There is an undercurrent of sexual tension that’s always there between the characters and in the Vic, they break that ice,’ Danny Walters told us.

Of course the two have quite the history, with their romance originally beginning when Sharon was still married to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). With Keanu now back in the Square after a three year absence, he and Phil have finally declared a truce. And it seems that Keanu’s feelings for Sharon haven’t changed despite everything that’s happened between them.

‘I guess Sharon is that one woman who is his kryptonite and he feels very gravitated towards her,’ Danny reflected. ‘If you ask Keanu what that truly is, he’s probably not intelligent enough to actually answer that, but he feels an extreme lust and love towards Sharon which I guess he can’t hide.’

Keanu’s feelings towards Sharon are quite straightforward, according to Danny.

‘He is quite innocent in his thought process in the sense that when he looks at Sharon, he loves her, he adores her and he sees a future with her. He’s very optimistic and positive to make that future happen, and as a bit of a believer, he wants to grow that family to be with Albie and Sharon.’

Danny thinks that Sharon is more wary of reigniting the affair. ‘She definitely does put up a resistance to it because she has been hurt in the past and its clear she doesn’t want to get hurt again,’ he observed.

‘I think she’s probably getting cold feet and isn’t too sure so she puts up a guard around herself which I think Keanu struggles with a lot – he wants to try and break down that barrier to get to the true Sharon. Keanu believes that she’s putting up a bit of a fight when she should just go with her feelings and her emotions rather than trying to get her head involved and push Keanu away. Keanu is very black and white and he’s basically said to Sharon, “I love you so much, why can’t you see how much I love you?” as it would make things a lot simpler for them.’

What are your theories for EastEnders’ big anniversary week?

Danny is very clear that, for his character, Sharon is the only woman for him.

‘I think Sharon fulfilled a lot of Keanu’s wants and needs in a woman, and out of all of the other women that Keanu has been with prior,’ he said.

‘Keanu is a trier and he’s not going to give up. He’s determined to prove himself to Sharon, and he’s going to work on his relationship with her to prove just how much he loves her.’
