EastEnders Vinny Panesar actor announces sad death of ‘beautiful’ relative

EastEnders star Shiv Jalota has heartbreakingly announced the death of a loved one.

The BBC actor, who plays Albert Square’s Vinny Panesar, confirmed the news of his grandma’s passing to his 31,000 Instagram followers.

The actor took to the platform to make the heart-breaking announcement on Monday (January 23) alongside an adorable snap of his beloved “beautiful” Nan.

The Vinny Panesar actor captioned the sweet snap of his late grandma and another family member: “Saying goodbye to our Nan Sue today. RIP you beautiful being.”

His loyal fans quickly showed their support, flooding him with heartfelt comments as they shared their condolences.

“Thinking of your family Shiv,” wrote one supportive fan, while another commented: “Lots of love to you and your family.”

Another wrote: “Sending my condolences,” as a fourth penned: “Beautiful picture Shiv.”

The actor is best known for playing the youngest member of Walford’s Panesar family after making his debut in the hit BBC soap in 2019.

Shiv has featured in 191 episodes of the popular East-London-based soap, where his rowdy character has avoided imprisonment after a nail-biting incident with Martin Fowler (James Bye) over the head during a robbery.

The actor joined the National Youth Theatre in 2013 and gained his first film credit as a gymgoer in Heavy Weight three years later.

According to IMDB, the 29-year-old’s only other film credit came in the 2019 short movie White Girl during the same year he joined Eastenders.

Reflecting on his training with National Youth Theatre, he candidly confessed: “It massively helped me – the NYT basically trained me (as an actor). It’s definitely shaped me as a performer and given me so much confidence.”

He added: “As a working-class British Asian, it was a place for me where I saw an opportunity where finances may not be as much of a strain.

“It has given me the strength to realise that if you want to perform or be backstage or on stage or behind the camera, to just go for it.

“Fail, make mistakes but learn in the moment, and that’s so important for any actor coming into it – learning in the moment and being present in the moment. That is what the NYT has taught me.”
