Emmerdale airs star's return after months of mysterious absence
Ethan Anderson (Emile John) returned to Emmerdale in Friday’s (July 7) edition of the ITV soap after months away.
The character is the son of Charles (Kevin Mathurin), and surprised Claudette (Flo Wilson), Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) and his dad with his arrival while they were having a tense conversation.
Ethan has been absent for a number of months, having last been seen in early April giving sister Naomi a telling off for the way she behaved towards Charles over boyfriend Alex’s life-threatening hit-and-run.
The soap accounted for Ethan’s exit by revealing that he was away working on business but tonight, he was back in the village.
While Claudette, Manpreet and Charles were pleased to see Ethan, he came back right after Victor (Eddie Osei) revealed more about a major decision from Charles before he was sent to prison.
In Thursday’s (July 7) edition of the ITV soap, Victor told Claudette that before he was sentenced for a robbery and attack on a security guard, he had the opportunity to live a free life – he just needed an alibi.
He turned to Charles for help, but he refused, which made it seem as though he was the reason Victor went to prison for over 20 years.

It was a case of one in and one out for the Andersons this week, as Ethan’s return came after Naomi’s (Karene Peter) exit, who chose to leave and spend time with her friends in Ibiza.
Ethan’s role in tonight’s instalment mainly involved him playing catch up, but with Claudette pointing out how bright he is, could he be the one who starts to notice Victor has ulterior motives?
