Emmerdale boss confirms Caleb does have a secret but fans havent guessed it yet

Emmerdale executive producer Jane Hudson has revealed Caleb Dingle, who fans think is hiding a secret about Kyle, is not an undercover cop, but he is hiding something.

The soap boss appeared on Thursday's Loose Women (February 9) to discuss the latest goings on in the Yorkshire Dales, with the main topic surrounding the mysterious newcomer, played by William Ash.

Caleb is now known to be Cain Dingle and Chas Dingle's estranged brother, but others are convinced there's something much more sinister related to his return to the village.

Some fans believe Caleb is actually working for the police, and could be investigating Cain for some of his dodgy dealings over the years.

Others think he could be connected to other characters in the village.

"I'm loving Cain's long-lost brother Caleb," Loose Women panellist Judi Love began, as the rest of the women erupted into laughter.

"We all love Caleb," Jane agreed with a giggle.

Judi continued: "A viewer Eve has got in touch and wants to know what he really is up to, and asks if he's an undercover cop."

"Well I can tell you he is not an undercover cop," Jane then confirmed, to a gasp from the audience.

"Coronation Street recently did that story brilliantly with Spider, so we're not going to copy it. So he's not a cop."

The Emmerdale boss went on to tease that fans will likely be shocked by the truth surrounding the latest Dingle storyline, and even shared that she hasn't read a single person guess the truth correctly yet.

"There is a secret about Caleb and the viewers have not guessed it," she teased. "I've been reading all the theories about who he is, and I'm like 'not that one, not that one'."

The warring Dingle family were faced with a massive drama at Christmas when Caleb arrived, and he had a lot of difficult questions for Cain.

But Chas was particularly unimpressed when she discovered she had a long-lost brother, as Cain had kept his existence from her since they were teenagers.

Elsewhere, fan-favourite Belle Dingle is set for a new romance on the Dales, which could mean she'll stay out of the Cain and Caleb drama for a while.

"She's not going to find love with Jacob," Jane went on, blowing apart yet another fan theory. "But she is going to find love. We've got a bit of summer loving for Belle."

"Don't say 'aww' too soon!" the producer warned. "But it could be the most perfect relationship we've ever seen."

Emmerdale continues weekdays at 7pm on ITV, and Loose Women airs at 12.30pm.
