ITV soap fans have been left fuming at the news that Emmerdale has been cancelled in a huge schedule shake-up.
The soap usually airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV, but tonight a sports scheduling clash means fans will miss out on the latest Dales drama – with matriarch Faith’s terminal cancer worsening.
Tonight (September 6) Emmerdale won’t be aired at all in favour of the Women’s World Cup, which sees England take on Luxembourg.

The match kicks off at 7pm on ITV and only ends at 10pm, when ITV News is slated to air. Emmerdale will, however, return to our screens on Wednesday (September 7) at the usual time.
It isn’t the first time soaps have been disrupted this year, with Emmerdale yanked from the schedule back in March in favour of an FA Cup match between Peterborough United and Manchester City.
Fuming soap fans have now turned to social media to share their fury at the sudden change, with one Twitter user writing: “Three hours of English football […] I’d rather watch Emmerdale or Welsh ladies, or how about a Glasgow football team?”
“Didn’t realise Emmerdale wasn’t on tonight just cause of the football!” someone else posted, as a third ranted: "Fuming that #Emmerdale has been cancelled tonight for bloody football AGAIN."
It means fans will have to wait to discover more about Faith Dingle’s cancer battle as her health continues to deteriorate.
Fans of the show were left on tenterhooks last night as Liv Flaherty’s mum Sandra upped her scheming ways to swindle her daughter out of her inheritance.
She has been desperate to split newly married Liv and Vinny up, but sensing that it’s a failing game, revealed her dastardly plan to turn Liv back to the booze.
She’s been in recovery from alcoholism for months after being wrongly imprisoned for the murder of Aaron’s boyfriend Ben, but managed to turn things around with Vinny’s help.

But could Sandra once again ruin her daughter’s life?
Tensions are also escalating between Nicola and new girl Naomi, who admitted she was at the scene of Nicola’s attack as a gang of teenage girls beat her up.
With Naomi refusing to own up to the police, her dad Charles and brother Ethan have turned against her – but Manpreet seemed keen to stick up for her.
Emmerdale continues tomorrow from 7:30pm on ITV.
