Emmerdale confirms new romance storyline for Gabby Thomas with good looking nanny

Gabby Thomas is set to fall head over heels for a new character joining the hit TV show Emmerdale.

The soap's executive producer Jane Hudson opened up on the upcoming storyline, which will start with the introduction of a "good looking nanny," played by Lewis Cope.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Jane explained: We've got another new actor – Lewis Cope who's playing Nicky the nanny, the manny, at Home Farm. I think it's the first time Home Farm has had a nanny."

She went on to share how the 'manny' will catch Gabby's eye as soon as he enters the picture, but their love story will not be straight forward.

Jane shared: "He's a very good looking nanny who catches the eye of Gabby the minute he walks in for the interview and it's plain for everyone to see that her focus is not on who will look after the children the best, but who will look after her the best!"

"So there's lots of fun in store for Nicky and Gabby as we watch their fledgling romance – and like any good story, there will be a few reveals along the way," she added.

While this is no doubt exciting news to fans of the soap opera, Lewis himself has teased to Metro.co.uk that he's got a dark side that's bound to come out when he joins the story next week.

Describing his character Nicky as a "lovely person" initially, he later says the character is "too good to be true", warning viewers at home to stay alert as to his true nature.

The show also confirmed that Nicky doesn't have any connection to anyone else in the village that they know of just yet.

Sharing some insight into Nicky's character, Lewis explained that his mum passed away when he was just 16 and he is the oldest of six children. He's looked after his siblings and has a lot of experience with children, which inspired him to become a nanny.

"But I think not everyone is on board in the interview because Dawn obviously has a big problem with leaving the kids, so I think she is very particular on the type of person she wanted and I think she is the hardest to win over," he added.

Emmerdale has experienced a schedule shake up in recent weeks due to the ongoing World Cup matches. This will continue over the Christmas period.

The soap is usually aired on weeknights at 7:30pm and ITV1 and can also be streamed on ITVX.
