Emmerdale designer hints that Home Farm will not be destroyed amid deadly storm
Emmerdale set designer Gillian Slight has revealed the reason why Home Farm may not be destroyed in the upcoming storm storyline.
A storm is due to descend on the village as part of the ITV soap's 50th anniversary episodes, which Emmerdale bosses teasing that the village will "never be the same again."
Speaking in the book, 50 Years Of Emmerdale, Head Of Design Gillian Slight has now hinted that Home Farm may be safe from the oncoming storm, as any damage would mean that the set would need a complete redesign.

"Probably my favourite set would be Home Farm. During my nine years as head of design, it's the set I have changed most often, but the present version is my favourite. It's a large set, designed to maximise the depth, by placing the double doors between the spaces," said Gillian.
She added: "I can only hope that Home Farm doesn't become the victim of any natural disaster or random arsonist in the near future, which would necessitate a redesign."
Kim Tate and husband to be Will Taylor currently live at Home Farm, with Gillian revealing that each redesign of Home Farm has been constructed to represent the characters who live there at the time.
"I make sure the set suitably reflects the character for whom it is intended," she said.
"I have to consider the age, income, background and interests of the character in order to create a home or workplace that is right for them."
Leading the team that is responsible for designing not the only the set, but the props, including Cain's crowbar and the brick that killed Carl King, it seems that they will have had a lot of work on their hands for the 50th anniversary episodes.
Producer Kate Brooks revealed to press earlier this year that the anniversary week will focus on a "massive storm", which will "rip through the village and absolutely leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake."
She also hinted that fan favourites will be in danger, adding: "Some of our best loved villagers will be in peril and it is safe to safe that the village won't be the same after this – and it won't be the same again, because the impact this storm has on people's lives is just massive."
