Emmerdale fans left distracted by Chloe and Kerry blunder as character makes return

Emmerdale fans were left distracted on Monday's episode as Kerry Wyatt made a brief return to support daughter Chloe Harris as she struggled with her newborn son Reuben.

During the latest episode, Kerry appeared via a video call to speak with Chloe and meet the baby, as her daughter shared her struggles with motherhood after welcoming her child on the day of Mackenzie Boyd's wedding to Charity Dingle.

After Chloe honestly opened up on her struggles with Kerry, her sister Amy was relieved their mum managed to get through to Chloe.

However, fans were left distracted as they noticed that during the whole call the screen said it was on mute as they questioned how Chloe and Kerry could hear each other due to the technology blunder.

Taking to social media, one person shared a screenshot of the scene and wrote: "She's Got The Mic Muted" with a confused emoji.

To which a different account replied: "I noticed that…"

Elsewhere, another follower wrote: "Correct me if I'm wrong but was the phone muted on #Emmerdale when Chloe was talking to Kerry? On facetime?"

While a different fan added: "How Can Kerry Hear Chloe On The Phone And Vice Versa When She's Got The Mic Muted."

This is the first time Kerry has been seen on the soap since her sudden exit in November last year, after viewers saw her discover that her partner Al Chapman was cheating on her.

Al was killed off from the soap back in October, and just weeks later Kerry learned of his shady betrayal. But the character didn't find out at the time that Chas Dingle was Al's mystery woman.

Laura's brief return to the soap comes after the actress, 39, welcomed her own baby girl with partner and co-star Mark Jordon, 58, in October.

"This little superstar joined us," she said at the time.

"She's dead clever and a tiny little bundle of joy and beauty. Ronnie Jordon."

In February, the couple revealed that both of their young children – Jesse, two, and baby Ronnie – suffer from the same rare genetic condition.

Both Jesse and Ronnie have been diagnosed with Usher syndrome, which causes impairments to hearing and vision, meaning those affected will need hearing aids for the rest of their lives and can suffer from sight loss later on.

The couple – who got engaged in 2019 – said they first had concerns that something was wrong with Jesse shortly after his birth in 2021, after he failed standard hearing tests.

They didn't find out he had Usher Syndrome until Laura was pregnant with Ronnie, with tests confirming their kids carried the same rare gene that causes the condition.
