Emmerdale fans were left in floods of tears during Thursday night’s hour-long episode after Faith Dingle (played by Sally Dexter) sadly died. The village favourite has been battling cancer in recent months, and viewers have slowly watched Faith’s health deteriorate. However, Faith’s time on the ITV soap has finally come to an end.

Throughout the double episode, viewers watched as Faith said her final goodbyes to her family members.

The Dingle favourite encouraged her daughter Chas (Lucy Pargeter) to go on a spa day, but before she did, she bid unknowingly said goodbye to her daughter.

“You’re never too old for a hug,” Faith said as he embraced Chas through tears.

She later spoke with Moira (Natalie J Robb) who broke down in tears after she quizzed Faith on whether she planned to take her own life.

Moira had her suspicions that Faith had, had enough following her chat with Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell).

Faith also had a visit from Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen), who made a special return from Portugal and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).

“I’ll save my kisses for you, Eric, my one true love,” Faith said. “Goodbye, Eric.”

Faith also tried to get Cain out of the way by sending him on a road trip to the seaside to get her a stick of rock.

It was an emotional moment for the mother and son, and the mechanic even shed a tear as he hugged his mum.

When Cain left, Faith called Nate (Jurell Carter) to help her walk up the stairs to bed.

“Paddy, do you not go to work?” Faith quizzed after the vet suddenly came home.

“It’s okay, I’ll eat in the bar,” Paddy said as Faith quizzed the vet on whether he will always look after Chas.

Later on, Moira has a bad feeling about Faith and decided to call Cain to get to The Woolpack.

When the pair get there, they find Faith lying in bed with tablet packets around her.

“Mum,” Cain pleads as Faith sighs: “Go! Go!”

“How many did you take? How could you be so stupid?” Cain cried before shouting at Moira to call an ambulance.

“No doctors,” Faith pleaded as she asked: “Let me go!”

The episode came to a close with Cain hugging his mum, and viewers were left in tears when he finally said: “I love you, mum!”

However, following the harrowing exit, fans have come up with their own theories about who will die next.

Bosses have confirmed there will be more deaths to come, and fans seem to think it could be Zak Dingle, Chas or Al.

“I’m sure Zak is going to die after Faith, the hints are all there… his convo with her was especially poignant,” user @Thedragon18137 predicted.

Andie replied: “NOOOOOOO too many good characters.”

Dave tweeted: “I think Zak will be next.”

Mags tweeted: “I so hope Chas & Wooden Al get what they deserve in this upcoming storm….” (sic)

While Jonny added: “Yeah Chas is DONE after this. I don’t want a redemption storyline I just want her gone.”

“Dunno why but I’ve got a hunch Al could die in the anniversary week. He said to Chas yesterday ‘the rest of our lives’ so this could be foreshadowing it won’t be very long. Plus she’d just declared she loves him, what if he dies & no one knew she was in love with him,” Charlotte claimed.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
