Emmerdale favourite quits ITV soap after six years as character set to be killed off

Emmerdale's Isobel Steele has reportedly quit the hit ITV soap after six years.

According to new reports, the actress, 21, is said to be wanting to focus on music and her character, Liv Flaherty, is set to be "killed off" in dramatic scenes later this month.

A source told The Sun: "It’s been a big decision for Isobel but she’s ready to try new things.

"She feels like she’s done all she can at Emmerdale and wants to focus on her music career and make a real go of it. Bosses have pulled out all the stops for the 50th anniversary month and Isobel’s exit will be no different.

"Viewers are going to be on the edge of their seats as it all plays out and Liv is killed off. It’s a real heartbreaker, a death fans will remember for a long time to come."

OK! has contacted ITV for comment.

Viewers will recall that Liv, who is married to Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), has been part of some hard-hitting storylines in the village with the most recent including her scheming mother Sandra Flaherty (Joanne Mitchell).

It comes as Emmerdale fans have been given their first glimpse at what to expect in the upcoming 50th anniversary episode – which could see multiple deaths in the village.

Show runners previously revealed the village will be changed forever as a devastating storm hits the village, kickstarting a chain reaction of events that will change the Dales forever.

The special anniversary episode will air on Sunday 16 October and executive producer, Jane Hudson, previously said she wanted to make the hour-long special "a treat for all our loyal viewers".

She added that she wants to ensure fans are "gripped to the edge of their seats as the stories unfold".

In the first of a series of spoilers ITV will release over the coming days, a new picture shows the devastation set to be inflicted on the village.

The image shows debris and fallen trees scattered across the village's famous streets with a dark cloud hanging above.

The sign of The Woolpack pub is barely hanging on as it dangles off the post.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
