Emmerdale Lachlan White star’s life – secret BGT stint and mugged at knifepoint

Emmerdale star Tom Atkinson has definitely made his mark on the long-running soap.

The 24-year-old first appeared in the famous dales back in 2014 playing Lachlan White when he was just 15 years old.

And it’s fair to say he’s been embroiled in some gripping storylines during his time on the programme, becoming one of Emmerdale’s most prolific serial killers.

He’s murdered everyone from his on-screen mother Chrissie Sugden (Louise Marwood) to his grandfather Lawrence White (John Bowe).

However, Tom left the soap in 2018 when his character was eventually arrested for his horrific crimes.

But in episodes this week, Lachlan’s ex girlfriend Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) will learn that the serial killer is being moved to another prison soon.

So as Lachlan ‘returns’ to the Dales this week, Daily Star is taking a deep dive inside his life.

Major Netflix role

Shortly after his stint on Emmerdale ended, Matt didn’t waste any time in getting back on TV screens.

In 2019, he bagged a role on the smash hit Netflix show Sex Education – which stars the likes of Gillian Anderson and Ncuti Gatwa.

In the raunchy series, he played teenager Nick whose boyfriend Anwar struggles to tell him that he’s not had sex before.

However Anwar manages to tell Nick the truth, and was understanding of his beau’s feelings.

Secret BGT stint

While Tom shot to fame thanks to his role on Emmerdale, it turns out he has a secret past as a Britain’s Got Talent contestant.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain in 2018, he told Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard he once appeared on ITV's BGT, as a backing singer for Bars and Melody.

"I was a backing singer on Britain's Got Talent once, when I was younger," he shared.

Kate and Ben were left with their jaws on the floor and quizzed him further: "Were you? Bars and Melody, oh yeah."

He added: "Yeah, I was, in the final. It was weird. I did a little sway."

Ben then asked Tom if he saw himself having a career in the pop music world.

“No, I don't think so," Thomas replied. "But yeah, I'd like to do all that kind of thing.”

Mugged at knifepoint

Back in 2018, Tom revealed to fans he was mugged at knifepoint in Paris.

The soap star shared the news on social media after the terrifying incident in the French capital.

Taking to his Instagram, Tom uploaded a photo of the iconic Eiffel Tower before revealing that he had his phone stolen during the mugging.

“Last shot before I had a knife pulled on me and phone stolen. Thank you, Paris. Nice to know I was welcome," he wrote.

Tom had been sharing a slew of photos from his trip to Paris before informing his followers about the crime.

As expected fans rallied round the ITV star to ask how he was after the ordeal while sharing their concerns.

But Tom issued an update in the comments section and wrote: “For anyone asking, I'm fine. Found it quite amusing tbh.

“Being stuck in a foreign country with no phone was an experience to say the least.”
