Emmerdale marriage over for good after devastating confession | The Sun

LOVE affairs are frequent in the Dales and some couples aren't strong enough to withstand them.

Such is the case for one iconic Emmerdale pair who finally call time on their romance.

For several weeks, fans of the ITV soap have required Chas Dingle to get comeuppance for her recent actions.

The Woolpack manager portrayed by Lucy Pargeter embarked on a shocking affair with Al Chapman.

Despite her initial reluctance, mostly due to the fact she was left vulnerable by her mother's illness and death, she was even ready to leave her life in the eponymous village… as well as her husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).

But her plans were thwarted when the businessman was shot dead by Kyle Winchester.

Chas was left to grieve in silence but her affair was eventually exposed weeks after Al's death by Belle Dingle.

Paddy confronted Chas by taking her to the home she was planning to settle into with Al and their daughter Eve, before demanding a divorce.

Heartbroken, he even tried to push Chas out of the village altogether, but she's adamant on staying put.

All hopes of the couple ever reconciling are dashed in scenes due on our screens next week.

Will Chas and Paddy really get divorced?

As mentioned above, Belle was the one to shine a light on Chas' affair, months after finding out about it.

She had caught Chas and her business partner Al in a hotel but was made to believe the illicit romance was over by the pair of them.

Aaron Dingle, Chas' son, then found out about the affair by catching them red-handed on two occasions.

This led to him leaving the village in anger, disappointed by his mother's manipulative and secretive behaviour but also devastated by his sister's death.

Chas' brother Cain Dingle eventually found out about the affair but unlike Belle or Aaron, he chose to do something about it.

Cain's acrimonious feud with Al was taken to the next level and the businessman died during one final fight.

As a result, Chas was shunned by her own family after her affair was exposed as they believed Cain was only in prison because of her.
