Emmerdale White family now – near-death experience, famous sister and addiction
Emmerdale has seen lots of iconic clans come and go during its 50 year history, including White Family.
The White Family first arrived in 2014, but it was not long before they become embroiled in lots of huge storylines that had viewers gripped to their seats.
From affairs to villainous plans, DNA revelations and heartbreaking car crashes, a lot happened to the family during their four years on the ITV soap.

With the last member of the family departing Emmerdale in 2019, Daily Star has taken a look at where the actors who played the famous clan are now, more than four years since their exit.
Lawrence White – John Bowe
John Bowe starred as Lawrence White between 2014 to 2018 – and was involved in some of the soap's biggest storylines.
These include the revelation that Chrissie White was not his biological daughter, along with his marriages to residents including Bernice Blackstock.
However, he was tragically killed in a car crash after the White family decided to depart the village for good.
Long before he played Lawrence though, John led a successful acting career with a rival soap stint in Coronation Street as Duggie Ferguson.
He also played George Marlow in Prime Suspect, as well as appearing in Boon, The Living Daylights, Ashes to Ashes, Casualty, Silent Witness and New Tricks.
John is not the only famous star in his family though, as his son is theatre actor Joseph Kennedy, who he welcomed from his first marriage.
The actor has six children and he has been married to Emma Bowe from 1995, who is the daughter of late British actor Michael N Harbour – star of Midsomer Murders, Casualty and Heartbeat – and sister to TV voice actor Kate Harbour.
John and Emma previously worked together on 1992 drama Trainer, before marrying three years later.
He has also opened up about his near-death experience after contracting Covid in March 2020, saying in a tweet: "#Coronavirus Sunday observations. I have nearly died twice in my life. Once just last week. The gauze between life and death is extremely thin and oh so easy to pass through. Certainly in one direction. Not sure about the other. As yet."
Chrissie White – Louise Marwood
Louise Marwood played Chrissie White, the wife of Robert Sugden, between 2014 to 2018.
However, her character suffered heartbreak when Chrissie discovered that Robert had an affair – with Chrissie later becoming a suspect after Robert was shot.
She was later killed in a tragic accident alongside step-father Lawrence, when her son Lachlen drove their car into the path of an oncoming lorry.
However, Louise has recently opened up about her secret addiction battle following her departure from Emmerdale in 2018.
The star spoke candidly about her drug addiction and has set up a GoFundMe page to help finance a project close to her heart, called Rita Lynn: The Life Coach Who Wanted to Die.
Speaking in a video supporting her GoFundMe page, Louise said: "Having completely decimated my life, this appeal is asking for the opportunity to put my life back together again – performing my way out of a hole that I created for myself with a show that I've written called Rita Lynn: The Life Coach Who Wanted to Die,"
"I want to carry a story of strength and hope to the addict that still suffers while busting wide open the chaos that addiction causes to your life and everybody that you drag down with it.
"Rita Lynn is about the life coach that wanted to die and she represents the voice in my head – my addict brain that nearly killed me and kept me as sick as long as I was."
Lachlan White – Thomas Atkinson
Thomas Atkinson starred as Chrissie's son Lachlan White in Emmerdale for five years between 2014 to 2019 – with his character involved in a number of harrowing storylines.
He led a reign of terror on the village, including murdering best friend Gerry Roberts, attempting to kill Liv Flaherty and hiring his father to burn down the Dingle's home while he was in jail.
After leaving Emmerdale, Thomas has appeared in a short film called Sidelined and played Nick in three episodes of Netflix series Sex Education.
According to his Spotlight page, Thomas is working on 2023's Black Cake for Disney+ and studied acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
However, he tends to keep his personal life private and it is not known if he is single or in a relationship.
Rebecca White – Emily Head
Rebecca White was Chrissie's half-sister and the mother of Sebastian White.
She was played by Emily Head between 2016 to 2018, with Rebecca becoming embroiled in a fight with her sister when Lachlen revealed Robert and Rebecca had an affair.
She later had a relationship with Ross Barton and welcomed son Sebastian, before the family departed Emmerdale for good following the crash that killed members of her family and left Rebecca with a brain injury.
Away from Emmerdale, Emily starred in Doc Martin and The Inbetweeners, along with most recently appearing in The Syndicate.
Performing runs in the family too, as Emily's sister Daisy has starred in Netflix series Shadow and Bone and her father is none other than Buffy The Vampire Slayer icon Anthony Stewart Head.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
