Emmerdales bitter newcomer Caleb out for revenge as Dingles left in danger

Emmerdale newcomer Caleb could mean big trouble for the Dingle family after being introduced as Cain's brother.

Caleb was taken into care as a child, and attempted to reconnect with his big brother Cain when he was 16 – only to be told their mum Faith was already dead and warned to steer clear.

Of course, Faith wasn't dead at the time – and Cain was dealing with his abusive father Shadrach.

But actor Will Ash has teased that the "bitter" Caleb could be out to seek revenge after being wronged by his biological family.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, Will explained: "He comes in having this really kind of dark and tortured backstory of having been put into care as a child.

"He comes into it with a lot of bitterness and a lot of anger."

The actor went on: "Initially, when he comes in, even though he's got an axe to grind with him, he wants to connect with his family.

"To connect with Cain and with Chas, he wants to have a relationship even though there is a kind of simmering resentment and bitterness."

The newbie could also be harbouring a dark secret – though Will doesn't quite know where his character is headed yet.

He told Daily Star: "He's very, very kind of charming and open and wanting to just make a connection with his family because they're going through quite a lot.

"He comes in and kind of really helps them deal with all that they're dealing with. But you can't help but think there is something else going on."

The star continued: "I mean, I don't know any of this, but he might have been married, divorced, had kids. Right now he's a lone wolf, but there's the potential for all that to play out.

"Right now, though, I take my wedding ring off on set. But what's so great about him is that he's a bit of a blank canvas! There's only so much we know about him at this point.

"I think he's holding quite a lot back."

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV1.
