Escape to the Chateaus Angel Adoree promises the journeys not over

Escape to the Chateau: Dick teases Angel about the grass

Kicking off back in 2016, viewers watched Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree restore their 19th-century French mansion back to its former glory for six years.

However, the duo decided to call it a day on the much-loved series duo to their two children growing up.

At the end of December, Channel 4 viewers tuned into the Christmas special to watch the family one last time as they threw the ultimate festive bash and wedding.

Although many fans of the show were left heartbroken at the show coming to an end, Dick and Angel revealed there’s more in store for them.

Speaking to Graham Norton on his podcast, the husband and wife duo teased their TV journey isn’t over just yet.

Touching on their series coming to an end, Graham said: “People are very upset that Escape to the Chateau is over, but it’s not really over because there’s a spin-off am I right?”

Confirming the new show, Dick said: “It’s not the same as Escape to the Chateau because obviously it’s been our last eight years of journey with the children growing up.

“But, we are travelling around and seeing a bit more of France which is not bad.”

Angel added: “Escape to the Chateau in the classic form is over, but our journey is not over.

“There is still so much to do and we will find our way of communicating that somehow.”

The Channel 4 star confessed their Chateau will never be fully finished as she revealed they had just started on the windows in the last episode.

As Dick shared there are 60 windows in total on the property, Angel said: “It’s such a mega job!”

Their new series, which is titled Escape to the Chateau: Secret France, will see Dick and Angel go on adventures as they unlock the secrets of the country they now call home.

Although Channel 4 is yet to announce a release date, fans are anticipating it to air later on in the year, filling the usual Escape to the Chateau slot.

It’s believed the spin-off will consist of four hour-long episodes of Angel and Dick exploring hidden parts of France many tourists miss getting the opportunity to see.

Lizi Wootton, Head of Popular Factual at Two Rivers, said: “Having worked on all things Chateau since its inception, I have seen the appetite for the brand flourish, with the continued success, internationally, of Escape to the Chateau as well as the popularity of the spin-off series Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend.

“We are thrilled to continue to bring the escapism, aspiration, warmth, accessibility and fun, which is the beating heart of the Chateau series, to the travel genre.

“As Dick and Angel go beyond the chateau’s gates their unique ability to seek out the unexpected and uncover the extraordinary will combine with their innate sense of adventure to unlock the secrets of France.”

Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on All4.
