Extraction 2 has Chris Hemsworth back from the dead – WATCH
Extraction 2 official Netflix trailer with Chris Hemsworth
Netflix released the first Extraction movie in the height of the pandemic in 2020, and it was a smash hit.
The movie, which hit the service on April 24, 2020, was critically praised for the performances of its cast, with emphasis on its lead, Chris Hemsworth.
It also became the “most-watched original film in Netflix history” with more than 99 million viewers in the first four weeks.
Now, the Thor: Love and Thunder actor is back as Tyler Rake in Extraction 2 – and he has a lot to figure out.
Rake was left for dead at the end of Extraction, and now he’s doing things a little differently.
The trailer – which you can see at the top of this article – shows Hemsworth fighting to save a family who are being hunted.
Extraction 2’s synopsis sheds a little more light on this, as it reveals Rake is tasked with “rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held”.
The sequel is once again inspired by the graphic novel, Ciudad, by Ande Parks.
The story was written by Parks and the Avengers Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Sam Hargrave returns as the film’s director.

Hemsworth, the movie’s lead, recently explained how “unique” the action and stunts in Extraction 2 are.
He told EW: “We’ve got fist fights, car chases, explosions, trains, helicopters … It’s like an action fan’s fantasy come to life. At least it was for us action designers.”
He added: “We sort of went for the moon. In a very crowded world of action, I think we did something that’s very unique.”
Extraction 2 hits Netflix on June 16.
