Fans call for EastEnders superfan TikTok star to land cameo in soap

A Sainsbury's security guard and avid EastEnders fan has become an unexpected TikTok sensation after sharing videos of himself meeting actors from the show as they leave work at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.

Pete's TikTok videos feature encounters with Eastenders stars like Shona McGarty, Bobby Brazier, and Natalie Cassidy, who kindly stop to chat with waiting fans.

One heartwarming video shows Pete talking to Bobby about his late mother, Jade Goody, while another captures Pete playfully dancing with Shona. These clips have collectively garnered 1.8 million views and landed Pete 136,000 followers.

Shona and Pete seem to have even developed a longstanding friendship from their numerous interactions over the past seven years and in one video, she even lets Pete test-drive her new car.

He added the caption: “I've known SHONA McGARTY (WHITNEY DEAN) EASTENDERS 7 years now, and we've always got on really well. Always happy to see each other, but this is a first. She trusted me enough ( only a short distance though) to let me drive her new car BMW CONVERTIBLE , thats she's just bought. Made my day, loved it.”

Fans soon rushed to the comments section, where they called for Pete to nab a cameo in the show.

“They should cast you as a relative of Whitney's," one wrote.

Another added: “Ur an EastEnders star urself mate,” while a third commented: “Get this bloke a scene in the Vic.”

The UK’s favourite soap stars were out in force on Saturday evening as the British Soap Awards took place in Manchester.

Coronation Street dominated the winners list, with a whopping six wins in total. The cast were closely followed by the EastEnders cast, who bagged four awards, while Hollyoaks scooped two.

Best Leading Performer was deservedly won by EastEnders actress Danielle Harold for her heartbreakingly authentic portrayal of battling terminal cancer as Lola Pearce.

Winning the award held a special significance for Danielle, as it coincided with the airing of her final scenes on the show.

Accepting the award, Danielle said: “This isn’t for me. This is definitely for every single person who’s worked with me along the way who has been directly affected by brain tumours, people who are suffering from brain tumours.

“Their time has been so precious to them and even more to me and I can’t thank all of you enough for helping me.”
