Fiz's exit storyline revealed in killer Stephen drama in Corrie

A beloved resident of Coronation Street is set to say goodbye to the cobbles soon, as Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) takes her leave of the street she’s called home since 2001.

Luckily this is only a temporary departure, though. Jennie McAlpine announced in January that she was pregnant with her third child.

She and her partner Chris Farr already have an eight year old son called Albert and four year old daughter Hilda, and Jennie said that the family were ‘over the moon’ at the prospect of baby number three.

She also said that they didn’t want to know the baby’s gender before the birth.

‘Girl, boy – it’s not relevant!’ she said. ‘I’ve got two little humans who are very different from each other but I’m not sure they’re different because they’re a girl and a boy.’

So as Jennie heads off on her maternity leave, for her character it’s a new job in Norwich that lures her away from Weatherfield.

A new supervisor role comes up based in the Norfolk city and initially Beth (Lisa George) tells Stephen (Todd Boyce) she’d be interested in going for it.

This prompts Fiz to reveal that Kirk (Andy Whyment) – who has been staying with the Dobbs’ since he and Beth split up over her flirtation with old flame Marco (Paul Albertson) – has been missing her.

Stephen later calls Fiz into the office and offers her the Norwich job and the salary is double what she currently earns.

It’s an offer she can’t really refuse but of course she has reservations as it means leaving Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby (Macy Alabi) behind.

Tyrone is supportive and says it’s a great opportunity for her and she should take the job.

So Fiz packs her case ready to head to East Anglia.

Izzy (Cherylee Houston) and Kirk reassure her when she has last minute doubts, and then there’s a tearful farewell as Evelyn and the girls wave her off as Tyrone drives her to the station.

How will they cope without her?
