Gabby Logan struggled to fight back the tears as she opened up about her husband’s prostate cancer diagnosis on BBC Breakfast.

During Tuesday’s visit to the BBC studios, Sally Nugent welcomed the 49-year-old presenter and her husband Kenny onto the show to discuss the impact of her successful podcast titled the Mid-Point.

The former rugby player admitted that he went for a wellness check after listening to his wife’s show discussing the changes for middle-aged women in their body.

After spotting a subtle change, the doctors ran some tests and diagnosed the sporting star with prostate cancer back in February.

Since then, the dad-of-two has had his prostate removed in order to battle the devastating illness despite having no symptoms of the deadly disease.

She told viewers at home: "Because it’s my job I suppose I went into work mode a bit if I'm honest, and because we were in my office and I was in my same suit that I do all my interviews.

“And I kind of sat there and switched into interviewer and tried to talk to Kenny in a way that would illicit information.

“I want people to listen to it and learn about it, I wanted to listen to this podcast myself on February 8th when Kenny was diagnosed and that’s what I want, I want people to learn from it.”

It comes after the death of former BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull who sadly passed away from the disease on last week.

The broadcaster – who hosted the morning show for 15 years – lost his lengthy battle with prostate cancer at the age of 66 on August 31, his family announced.
