Oscar Hartland has transformed from his dribbling role on Gavin and Stacey as Neil the baby to rock the stage during his upcoming audition on The Voice Kids.

The star will be back on screens to find a different kind of fame as he has his heart set on a thriving musical career.

Now 14 years old, Oscar will showcase his vocals with Foo Fighters’ Hero for coaches Will.i.am, Ronan Keating, Danny Jones, and Pixie Lott.

Although he is the frontrunner of his band Redwood City, Oscar is hoping for a four-chair turn as he auditions solo.

Ahead of his ITV appearance, the hopeful confessed: “It was weird being on the studio stage without the band.

Although the 14-year-old first appeared on screens as Nessa Jenkins (played by Ruth Jones) and Smithy’s (James Corden) tot, he got his first taste of fame in 2019.

Oscar told The Sun: “I grew up just knowing I was Neil The Baby but it was after the special that my life literally turned around.

“I went from a kid that was in a show when he was a baby to a kid in a TV show, even going into the supermarket was mad.”

As Oscar will have to study the show as part of his GSCEs, the youngster revealed he was using his fame to his advantage.

He told the publication: “I do use it to impress girls, I’m on Snapchat or at a party and I go, ‘Ever watch Gavin and Stacey then?’ My success rate is good, it’s decent.”

Oscar recalled: “Last Halloween a bunch of girls came around trick or treating, they were about my age.

“They opened the door and I just go like ‘Gavin and Stacey… Neil The Baby’ and then they just go nuts.”

The vocalist posted about his audition on Instagram, writing: “Soooooo it’s happening. So chuffed to be apart of the @thevoicekidsuk 2023. It was an absolute blast to film.
