In Wednesday’s rerun episode of A Place in the Sun, Channel 4 presenter Jean Johansson had the mission of finding couple Joe and Kirsty their dream home in Valencia, Spain. The one difference with this property search was that the house hunters planned to relocate their lives from the UK to Spain permanently.

The duo explained they had a budget of £250,000 to spend, but for the perfect property they could stretch up to £280,000.

Jean seemed to get off to a great start after Joe told the expert he was “speechless”.

The buyer even got a tad emotional as they stood outside the first property, which was priced at £258,000.

“The outside is doing more for me than the inside,” Joe commented as they stood inside the living space.

“I can tell you’re the kind of couple that won’t hold back,” Jean joked before adding that she was “disappointed” the first property had a “lukewarm reception”.

After viewing the rest of the holiday home on their own, and despite their concerns about the inside, Joe and Kirsty told Jean it was a contender.

The second property on Jean’s list was a two-bed house priced at £256,000.

Joe seemed to get emotional again as he told the presenter the property had knocked the first off the table.

Things got even better after inspecting the villa further, as Joe said: “I am lost for words.”

“It was really good,” Kirsty told Jean when she asked for their feedback.

However, they went on to add that it did need some renovation work.

Up next, was a grand property priced above the couple’s budget at £340,000.

The holiday home came with a heated swimming pool, an outbuilding with a summer kitchen and an olive grove.

And it seems the increase in the budget didn’t put the couple off, as they instantly fell in love with the farmhouse.

“You keep giving me a headache, Jean,” Joe told the host before adding: “This is the next level of the next level. You’re throwing a curve ball in something I thought I’d never be looking at.

“It looks amazing, feels amazing,” he explained before adding: “I’m speechless.”

The fourth property on Jean’s list was a property that came with stunning roof terrace views.

It also had an outdoor kitchen and swimming pool, which seemed to impress the house hunters.

‘Not sure I am feeling it,” Joe admitted as they moved on to the fifth and final property.

Despite liking the house, Joe and Kirsty couldn’t get the farmhouse out of their heads.

However, when it came to making a decision, they told Jean they wanted to think about their options some more.

It was later revealed that Joe and Kirsty went on to put in an offer for their dream home, and it got accepted.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
