GMB viewers left fuming with ITV for letting Holly and Phil off with queue jumping gate
Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming with ITV for letting Holly and Phil off over the queue jumping row.
On Tuesday's episode of GMB, co-hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard discussed people jumping the queue to see the Queen lying in state at Westminster Hall, after the show had hit out at various politicians for skipping the wait last week.
Co-host Susanna, 51, had revealed that she had waiting for more than seven hours with her 81 year old mother to file past Her Majesty's coffin on Thursday, describing the experience as an "enormous privilege".
But the show has been criticised some by fans for not mentioning This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who have faced fierce backslash after being spotted walking past queuing mourners.
ITV insists the pair were attending as members of the press to film for a segment for their programme, while Holly and Phil addressed the matter themselves on Tuesday's show.
GMB fans took to social media to slam Susanna and Ben for not commenting on the drama surround their ITV colleagues.
One tweeted: "The way GMB went after MP’s for queue jumping only now to ignore Holly and Phil" and a second wrote: "Distinct lack of Good Morning Britain presenters mentioning 'the queue' drama, weird that".
Others asked: "Anyone talk about Holly and Phil queue skipping yet?" and "Have Ben or Susanna mentioned their colleagues yet? Or are they proving GMB are ignoring queue jumpers".
Another commented: "GMB just as bad not mentioning it, it's time to boycott both shows, it's the same owners, someone start a petition."
However, former Spice Girls star Mel B did make a pointed dig about "queue jumping" during an appearance on GMB on Tuesday, after telling Susanna she has "so much respect" for her for queuing for so long.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday's episode of This Morning, Holly and Phil broke their silence on the matter.
Holly said: "Like hundreds of accredited broadcasters and journalists, we were given official permission to access the hall.
"It was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK, who haven't been able to visit Westminster in person.
"None of the broadcasters and journalists there took anyone's place in the queue and no one filed past the Queen.
"However, we realise that it may have looked like something else… and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know, that we would never jump a queue!"
