Gogglebox Mary and Giles address show future as she says they get other offers

Gogglebox stars Giles Wood and Mary Killen have become global superstars thanks to the show, as the pair addressed their future on Channel 4.

The couple, who hilariously refer to each other as “Nutty”, get recognised all over the world.

Mary told me: “People come up to us and say, ‘We love you on Gogglebox’. We get recognised even when we’re abroad.

“It’s happened in Italy, Belgium and Australia. It’s surprising. And it’s people from all walks of life.

“It’s surreal because we didn’t know they could watch Gogglebox there. But they tell us they illegally watch it on VPNs.”

Giles added: “And now the show is on Netflix!” After seven years on on our screens, the couple have a loyal army of fans.

Giles said: “People enjoy my humour. They like it when sparks fly. Marriage is a contrast – it’s a meeting of opposites.

“All sorts of people come up to us and say we’re their favourites on the show. But they probably say that to all of the cast.”

Giles and Mary now get invited to plenty of showbiz bashes. Last week they rubbed shoulders with stars at TRIC’s Christmas party.

Mary said: “We have been offered other shows. But we’re happy with Gogglebox.”

Meanwhile, Mary and Giles have discussed on the Channel 4 show who'd they like to play them in a TV series as they settled in to watch The Crown.

As Diana did her infamous Panorama interview with Martin Bashir, Mary asked Giles: "Who would play us if we were being dramatised?"

Giles responded: ""Richard and Judy, so Judy would play you and Richard would play me."

His wife quickly hit back: "Yes, but they're not actors. But you're right, they are quite like us."

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
