LOVE Island star Davide has been slammed by fans for his ‘gaslighting’ statement, following his recent split from Ekin-Su.
The Italian businessman shared an emotional statement from Ibiza on Instagram on Sunday, and said: "I genuinely don’t understand how some people can twist my old pictures from Ibiza, creating this fake narrative that I could be going back to Love Island."
Davide, who first shared news of his break-up on his Instagram page this week, continued in his lenghthy post: "Posting publicly about the break-up was extremely difficult yet necessary, despite the urge to keep it private.”
He also said their relationship had been “on the rocks for months,” before adding: “parting ways has been a long time coming, I ultimately decided to go ahead with it rather than keep on dragging the situation that became unhealthy for both of us.”
But since the release of his long statement, some unhappy fans have slammed the 27-year-old in the comments.
One person wrote: “In the rocks for months ? You have to go into detail to make yourself seem better 🙄🙄 I think you knew what you were doing posting with a caption saying back to the island ! Just looking for the attention first but unfortunately it didn't go your way.”

Another said: “Bro 100% knew what he was doing with that last post tho… caption said "guess who's coming back" with an island emoji… cmoooon he was asking for it.”
A third person added: “the way he’s manipulating all of you with this,” and a fourth echoed: “Whoever’s advice you are taking Davide please stop it’s so uncalled for. You could of said absolutely nothing and got on with your life. I hope trashing Ekin makes you feel better. Oh my!”
Another person wrote: “Truly awful to see how you have sold Ekin out. She didn’t deserve this – shameful to see.”
The Sun exclusively revealed Davide and Ekin-Su had split just 11 months after winning Love Island.

Fans have since accused Davide of breaking up with Ekin-Su in order to return to Love Island this year as a bombshell – which he strenuously denied.
Viewers were gripped by the ups and downs of their Love Island journey last year which included plenty of fireworks and Davide spawning an iconic catchphrase when he branded Ekin "an actress and a liar" in an explosive row.
But the couple were dogged by rumours of Davide cheating with models, and Ekin confronted him over a suspected fling earlier this year — branding his lover a “f***ing slag”.
The Sun on Sunday saw messages from Ekin-Su accusing the woman of “sleeping with my boyfriend” back in April.
Ekin-Su also took aim at another Instagram model after finding texts from the woman on Davide’s phone.
The reality TV star was last spotted on the red carpet with Davide at the Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny premiere shortly before their split was announced.
