Good Morning Britain star quits show after 10 years with emotional message
Good Morning Britain star Pip Tomson has confirmed she's leaving the hit show after a decade.
The 45-year-old presenter took to social media to share the news with fans, confirming her departure from the popular breakfast show with an emotional message.
Sharing a collage of images from her tenure on the ITV series to her 15.4K Instagram followers, Pip penned: "The sun is now setting on my (almost) 10 yrs at Good Morning Britain & ITV.
"It's been both fun, infuriating, inspiring & unforgettable.
"Proud to work on such a great forward-thinking show & I’ll miss the awesome team terribly [crying face and heart emojis]".
Elaborating on her decision to call it quits, Pip continued: "But you know when it's time for a new adventure – and it's my time.
"To all those many people who say they don't see enough of me on the TV then just watch this space… News coming soon", she then added a cryptic shushing face emoji and a fist.
Her co-stars flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts, with fellow GMB presenter Sean Fletcher commenting: "Good luck Pip. Sorry to see you go."
Weather presenter and meteorologist Laura Tobin said: "Sad to see you go", adding a crying face emoji.
GMB North America correspondent Noel Phillips said: "Good luck bab."
Viewers were also keen to share their thoughts on the star's exit from the show. One said: "Good Luck in your new role [smiling face emoji] keep up the excellent work with the animal charities!"
Another said: "Hope you are returning to the north east.. Good luck to the future". A third viewer commented: "Will be sorry to see you go but if more tv work in the pipeline then that's great news. Good luck in whatever it is".
And another added: "Best wishes for the future darling, onwards and upwards".
Good Morning Britain presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway took a break from delivering the news to offer a tribute to their co-star on Friday morning. They confirmed it was Pip's last day, with the news correspondent clearly becoming emotional.
Ben said: "We just want to say goodbye to one of the team who is leaving us – the amazing Pip Tomson. How long have you been with us?"
Fighting back tears, Pip replied: "I can't speak, I didn't know this was happening. Nearly ten years."
Kate told her: "Oh Pip, we are really going to miss you, but we are excited for your new adventures. You're going to be a huge loss to us on the team here and me personally, as well."
Holding back tears, Pip said: "It's a great family, everybody's just amazing to work with." Ben and Kate asked why she had decided to leave, with Kate explaining: "New adventures await and it's just time."
Pip has had a long career in the media industry, and first joined Good Morning Britain in 2013, back when it was named Daybreak.
