Gregg Wallace refuses to eat Masterchef dish ‘raw’ chicken dish

Gregg Wallace refuses to eat dish because of raw chicken

Civil servant Nky’s dish was paprika and cayenne pepper spiced thighs, which were double cooked, first steamed in oxtail broth and then pan-fried.

She served the dish to John Torode and Gregg Wallace with fried rice and a salsa salad, however, Gregg was left unimpressed with the chicken.

He commented: “You have wonderful flavour on here Nky, inside your rice and on your chicken skin, I really like it.

“The major, major problem I have here, I’m sorry to say, is your chicken here is too pink for me to eat.”

However, John swooped in and told Nky: “The flesh on my chicken is great! It’s falling off the bone, it’s absolutely delicious.

“I love the flavour you’ve got in there from cooking that chicken with the oxtail broth, it’s a revelation to me, that’s fantastic.”

Speaking about the comments and how she felt about the dish after, Nky said: “I had lots of time, I don’t know why his chicken had to be pink.”

Having another look at the chicken, Gregg expressed: “Nky, come on, come on, what a shame,” to which John added: “I really like her flavours though Gregg. I really do.”

The second dish that Nky cooked was cinnamon and curry-spiced grilled salmon, stir-fried vegetables with mint and scotch bonnet chilli, and noodles, served with a vanilla milkshake.

John kicked off their critiques and said: “Cinnamon’s an unusual flavour with the salmon, but I don’t mind that at all. Your salmon itself is going a little bit dry.

“Your vegetables have been cooked for a really long time. It’s all been cooked a little bit too long.”

Gregg added: “Stir-fry has gone a little bit greasy across the noodles, but I love the amount of chilli in there and thanks for the milkshake, it’s delicious.”

Reflecting on her second dish, she expressed: “I feel relieved. I’m not dwelling on the negative.

“I think they still were able to see some positives in it as well so, overall I am quite happy.”

After making a decision on who they wanted to kick from the show, Gregg admitted: “Let me tell you, a Masterchef invention test is one of the toughest tests on Masterchef.

“No matter what stage you are at. We thought you all did really well,” before John revealed Victor was the first person to be leaving the show.

As he said his goodbyes, John revealed the second person to be eliminated from the show was Nky.

Masterchef airs Tuesday from 9pm on BBC One.
