Holly Willoughby announces major change to This Morning leaving fans disappointed

Holly Willoughby has announced a major change to This Morning that has left some of the show's fans disappointed.

On Thursday's instalment of the popular daytime show, Holly and Joel Dommett – who is standing in for Phillip Schofield – played the popular game of Spin to Win.

The live segment sees viewers winning cash prizes, and usually features Phil spinning the wheel or Holly picking a ball to determine the prize money. Viewers can only play if they answer the phone with the correct catchphrase.

But following today's game, Holly announced that Spin to Win would not air "for a few weeks".

She said: "We have some sad news, Spin To Win will not air for the next few weeks."

Spin to Win is put on hold during the school holidays and rarely airs when Holly and Phil are not presenting together.

Following Thursday morning's announcement, one fan tweeted: "I honestly wonder if Holly & Phil have some weird copyright ownership over Spin To Win – have you noticed they don't let anyone else play it when they're both away, or on Fridays #ThisMorning."

Holly and Phillip always take the school holidays off from This Morning and Phillip is currently on an extended absence, but is thought to be returning on Monday 3 April.

Alison Hammond took over presenting duties alongside Holly Willoughby for the first half of the week, whilst The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett stepped in on Wednesday and Thursday.

Phillip's break from This Morning comes as his younger brother Timothy Schofield, 54, stands trial accused of 11 counts of interfering with a child. Timothy has denied all accusations.

Despite being nervous for his This Morning debut on Wednesday, Joel has proved a big hit with the show's fans as they praised the chemistry and banter between both stars and existing host Holly.

Others also urged show bosses to consider allowing them to present more often.

One pleased fan wrote: "Well done to Joel on the past 2 days on #ThisMorning He was brill!"

"Isn’t Joel a breath of fresh air #thismorning," another said while a third added: "I’m liking Joel Dommett on This Morning. #ThisMorning."

#ThisMorning oh how I adore @joeldommett on the show. Today the Pelvic Floor section had Joel’s eyes watering I could see & his smiling […] He’s so likeable for sure. Working well with @hollywills as well. Also, @AlisonHammond worked well too!” echoed another.

During an ad break on Thursday’s programme, Alison and Dermot O'Leary revealed to fans that they would be presenting the show for the next two weeks as Holly and Phil take some time off to enjoy the Easter break.
