Hollyoaks pub The Dog destroyed by mystery intruder – who is it?

Tony Hutchinson’s (Nick Pickard) worst fears have seemingly come true in Hollyoaks, after his beloved pub was ransacked by a mystery intruder, just hours after his car was broken into.

The landlord of The Dog, as viewers know, has grown increasingly concerned about the safety of his family, particularly wife Diane (Alex Fletcher), in the wake of Eric Foster’s (Angus Castle-Doughty) reign of terror.

Believing that there would be some sort of retaliation by Eric’s incel mates after the misogynist’s inprisonment, Tony has wrapped Diane up in cotton wool, hoping to keep her by his side at all times, with his irrational fears even keeping him awake at night.

Diane, however, is having none of Tony’s behaviour, insisting that he get seen to by a doctor. What’s more, she refused to be talked out of speaking at a women’s safety conference, even after her husband’s car had been broken into.

After Diane slipped off to the conference and forgot to take her phone, Tony’s mind started to conjure up all sorts of horrifying scenarios, believing that his wife had been taken by the radical misogynists.

The councillor was delighted when Diane later returned home safe, but his attention was soon on setting up CCTV cameras in the pub, much to Diane’s horror.

Tony, however, seemingly did the right thing, with the final moments of Friday’s (March 24) first look offering, which aired on E4, seeing The Dog being ransacked by a mystery intruder.

Viewers witnessed the crime unfold courtesy of Tony’s tablet, as the unknown resident tore the pub apart, pulling chairs and tables all over the place while also ripping the posters from the walls.

The question is: just who is to blame? If you look closely, like we did obvs (just cal us Jessica Fletcher) then you may have noticed that the intruder appears to be wearing a wedding – could this be a clue?

What’s more, how will Tony’s loved ones react to the incident? Could they perhaps realise that Tony had a point? Or is there another explanation for what has transpired?

Hollyoaks continues Monday March 27 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode from 12am on Monday on All4.
