Baby River, you have changed our world forever,’ she wrote, revealing her little one’s name. ‘We are so grateful we get to love you.’

A number of Jessica’s Hollyoaks co-stars were quick to comment, with Nadine Mulkerrin, who played Cleo McQueen, writing: ‘Welcome to the world River’, while Gregory Finnegan (James Nightingale) added: ‘Wonderful news! Congrats mate, can’t wait to meet the little dude x’

In a post shared on Instagram, Jess – who has played Nancy since 2005 – shared pictures of herself with her husband Nicholas holding up images from her ultrasound scan.

The couple also wore matching hats for the photos, with Jessica’s saying ‘Mum’ and and Nicholas’ reading ‘Dad’.

Jessica’s temporary exit from Hollyoaks will air in the coming weeks, with the soap star having confirmed that it’s an ’emotional’ one.

New spoilers for next week confirm that Nancy and Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) will be left emotional when they’re informed by doctors that baby Morgan has turned blue as a result of circulatory problems.

Hollyoaks boss Lucy Allan told Metro.co.uk exclusively that she had decided not to split up popular couple Nancy and Darren as part of Jessica’s exit story.

‘It is no great secret that Jess Fox will be departing the show for a period of time, fairly imminently,’ she told us several months ago.

‘We will not be breaking Dancy, so there is a challenging reason why she will leave the show for a while.’
