Game of Thrones fans are discovering more about the bloody history of House Targaryen each week, in part thanks to some revealing deleted moments which have emerged from the new HBO prequel. House of the Dragon fans have since been taking to Twitter demanding to know why some crucial details about Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith) have been left on the cutting room floor.

Viewers were left enraged and disappointed after a series of deleted scenes from the latest episode of House of the Dragon were released on social media.

In last week’s episode, The Princess and the Queen, the action jumps forward by 10 years, during which time Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) has given birth to three children.

Meanwhile, Daemon and his two daughters visit Pentos to try and strike an allegiance with the Prince.

However, the events of last week’s episode – and the introduction of new cast members Emma and Olivia Cooke – were somewhat overshadowed by the release of Daemon’s deleted scenes.

One omitted moment features Daemon kissing a male servant in the background of a scene.

This apparently confirms the Targaryen dragonrider is, in fact, bisexual, and some viewers were frustrated this important character detail wasn’t actually confirmed in the final edit.

Another still image features Daemon hugging Baela (Shani Smethurst) and Rhaena (Eva Ossei-Gerning) in a rare moment of affection toward his daughters.

Upon seeing fans’ reaction to the deleted scenes, HBO has released some clearer, high-definition stills of the revealing Daemon moment.

Unfortunately, this gesture clearly wasn’t enough to satisfy some members of the audience, who were furious this vital bit of character growth was left out during the editing process.

Twitter user @ToonRaiderXD fumed: “So bisexuality Daemon and good father Daemon were both cut scenes…

“Why is there so much going to the chopping block that is pretty important?”

@oochotd cried: “They cut literally [all of] Daemon’s worthy scenes.”

“If we get one more deleted scene that could’ve explained the story better to non-book readers, I’m not watching anymore,” @darkvisenya warned.

@gonlyb raged: “They cut Daemon hugging his daughters, saw the numerous outrage tweets, released a 4K photo of it, then expect us to what exactly?

“Be happy? It’s just more infuriating. They take this away from us.”

@villendune wrote: “At this point the HotD team must be playing rock paper scissors with the scenes they filmed.”

“Why did we need to see Aegon j*****g off but Daemon hugging his daughters after their mother, the woman he *at least* cared for, had died was scrapped??”

And @daemont00ls exclaimed: “Are you telling me we were robbed of both bisexual Daemon AND girl daddy Daemon hugging his kids??” (sic)

There are still four more episodes and potentially several more seasons of House of the Dragon still to come, so, hopefully, the HBO series will find a way to redeem itself in fans’ eyes going forward.

House of the Dragon season 1 continues Sundays on HBO in the USA and Mondays on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
