It has been five years since Rich Kids Go Skint first aired on Channel 5 – and one woman who appeared on the show is still being vilified over it to this day.
Jodie Weston went on to carve a successful DJ career for herself and she recently also became a mother.
But she said her reality TV episode is the one thing she cannot escape.

She has been sent vile messages saying she deserves to be sexually assaulted while other trolls have called her a “stuck up b****”.
Now, ahead of the five year anniversary of Rich Kids Go Skint this month, Jodie has asked online haters to finally leave her alone.
Speaking exclusively with Daily Star, she said: “I still get trolled over it. It is the one thing I can’t really escape.
“People think I am spoiled even though I’ve proven my talents in other areas.
“Most of the time it is done via a fake profile and you have no clue who is sending the messages. It is a very one sided attack which you are powerless to do anything about other than block.
“Some things I still get told five years later are ‘I saw you on Rich Kids and your accent sounds disgusting’, ‘your voice sounds like you’re slow’ and ‘I want to burn my Armani t-shirt because I’ve seen you have the same’.
“I’ve also had ‘I saw you on TV and your makeup looks so s***’ and recently I had ‘I bet you do the purge’ which from the movies is designed for middle class people and is obviously a fictional event.
“Someone also once sent me an email of 50 points as to why they can’t stand me.”
Rich Kids is now aired on Paramount+ and it features wealthy youngsters who are paired up with poorer families where they are asked to do mundane chores.
Jodie starred in season one and she wants to warn others to seriously consider the consequences of reality television.
Now 29, the mum said: “It will follow you throughout life so if you decide to go on a show make sure you are willing to live with that decision forever.”
She said most of the abuse she suffers derive from social media accounts with no picture of the person or their page is private.
The DJ, who has supported Idris Elba and performed at the Ministry of Sound, believes those who target her do it to try and ruin her day or to make her feel bad about herself.
And as for her message to these people, she said: “I think a lot of them use trolling as an outlet because they are unhappy with their own lives.
“I would tell them if you have nothing nice or constructive to say then don’t say anything at all.
“Or maybe evaluate how you could make a person feel by your actions.
“People who go on TV shows are real people who have feelings and a result of going on TV is that over time you become more sensitive to the opinions of others and any flaws you have are heightened if other people notice.
“So just think what the impact that could have on the person you are trolling.”
Despite the negativity, Jodie, who is a radio presenter on Select FM, is now a successful influencer with 210,000 Instagram followers and her new song Stay Til Tomorrow is out on June 2.
Channel 5 declined to comment when approached about this story.
