The casting of disgraced former health secretary Matt Hancock has remained a talking point two weeks into the ITV reality show, with the MP making headlines most days. However, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! fans have also been vocal in criticising other campmates, and now beloved presenters Ant and Dec have come under fire for “showing favouritism” towards radio star Chris Moyles while not helping Matt.

Chris took on the Boiling Point Bushtucker Trial a few days ago, the first to have been voted for a trial other than Matt.

The presenter made clear he was very nervous ahead of the challenge.

He was tasked with crawling into a confined space and crawling into water-filled rooms while hunting stars.

Ant and Dec sympathised but found Chris’ disastrous trial funny as they listened to him panicking.

Some viewers have claimed the presenters helped Chris as much as they could, but offered no help to the controversial politician.

During the trial, Twitter user @Jessica09952439 wrote: “#ImACeleb Ant and Dec are giving Chris Moyles far more help than they did Matt Hancock.”

@tre4tlr added: “Love the way Chris had a go at Matt earlier for breaking the ‘guidelines’, then tonight asks Ant & Dec to break the programme’s ‘rules’ to let him regain the lost stars #ImACeleb.”

Tauruslady55 agreed: “Yes very unfair… what about in the underwater one when Matt was disorientated and asked where the next box was and they responded sarcastically. They should be ashamed.”

@Elsee1982 fumed: “Ant & Dec have never given Matt any help or tips but in that short clip they’ve given Chris 2 tips to help him!”

“Funny how ant and Dec helped Chris but not Matt on his challenge’s pair of haters,” @SimonGorton14 shared.

@Gillian29176873 complained: “You helped Chris Moyles but you wouldn’t help Matt Hancock ashamed, and disgusted.”

As well as viewers, some of this year’s famous faces on the show have privately explained their reluctance to welcome late arrival, Matt, into the camp due to his conduct during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Matt broke the lockdown rules he had imposed on the nation after being recorded kissing his colleague, Gina Colangelo.

While some of Matt’s co-stars and fans of the show have warmed to the MP, many members of the public have taken a stand and sent a message all the way to the Australian jungle.

Campaign groups 38 Degrees and Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice have taken to the skies to send Matt a message he can’t miss.

During the first week of the series, Matt’s campmates confronted him about the scandal, with Chris himself joining in to ask Matt: “You got a lockdown fine, didn’t you?”

“No, of course I didn’t. No, I did not. I didn’t break any-” Matt began, but Charlene cut in.

“You were socialising with someone outside of your household,” she pointed out.

The former health secretary replied: “I didn’t break any laws. Guidance is different.”

Scarlette Douglas continued: “So there’s a rule and there’s a law.”

“Guidance is guidance,” Matt stated. “But the problem was it was my guidance. That’s why…”

“Why did you break your own guidance?” the A Place in the Sun expert probed.

The 44-year-old answered: “Because it was a mistake, because I fell in love with somebody.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Friday at 9pm on ITV.
