Im A Celebrity…South Africa celebrities unveiled including Helen Flanagan and Carol Vorderman

The first group of celebrities taking part in the brand new series, I’m a Celebrity…South Africa, have officially been revealed live on air by show hosts Ant & Dec, during the latest edition of Saturday Night Takeaway.

The new series will see our favourite stars swap the Aussie outback for a stint in the South African jungle, which is tipped by show bosses to be an even harder proposition which will push them to their limits and test them like never before.

With bigger and tougher challenges awaiting the contestants and an environment that is far harsher and more unforgiving than previously seen, the show is certainly not for the faint hearted, nor for individuals who haven’t previously experienced the jungle firsthand.

For that reason, the South African edition of the popular ITV show will exclusively feature contestants that have previously survived the I’m a Celeb jungle in Australia, and with no public vote to decide their fate, the stars will be competing against each other in a battle to become the first ever “I’m A Celebrity Legend”.

So who exactly is taking part in the brand new series?

Boxing Champion – Amir Khan

British Boxer Amir Khan is just one of the stars due to compete in the upcoming series, six years after he originally appeared on I’m a Celebrity back in 2017.

The star lasted an impressive 20 days in the jungle, coming in at an admirable 5th place, behind series winner Georgia Toffolo, who scooped the crown two days later.

Now aged 62, Carol is once again taking on the I’m a Celebrity challenge – but will her keen head for numbers and love of challenge be enough to secure victory?

Olympic javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread will also once again be returning to the jungle 12 years after she scooped third place in the 2011 series.

No stranger to a challenge, the star previously took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, and has proven she doesn’t shy away from hard work or the less than glamorous aspects of life away from luxury.

Former Royal Butler – Paul Burrell

Former Royal Butler and confidant to the late Princess Diana, Paul Burrell will also be appearing in the upcoming series, a whopping 19 years after he narrowly missed out on the jungle crown back in 2004.

Paul survived up until the last day of the competition during the show’s fourth ever series, and lonely narrowly lost out to show winner Joe Pasquale by a mere 2% of the vote.

Ex-England Cricketer – Phil Tufnell

One of the real stars to beat in this year’s series will be Ex-England Cricketer Phil Tufnell who will be returning to defend his title as King of the Jungle, 20 years since he scooped the crown in 2003, during the show’s second ever series.

As the only winner taking part this year, Phil has clearly set a high bar for his fellow contestants, but can he keep hold of his title in the South African jungle?
