I’m A Celebrity viewing figures smash ITV records as Gillian returns
Paul Burrell takes on I’m A Celebrity…South Africa trial
The new All-Stars series of I’m A Celebrity…South Africa has broken ITV records with its launch ratings as it had the highest week day audience this year.
The first episode of the series peaked at 4.9 million TV viewers and attracting an average of 4.3 million TV viewers.
The ratings are the highest for any channel this year in the Monday 9pm slot, and is more than double the year on year slot (+107 percent), up by over two million viewers and +14 share points.
I’m A Celebrity also attracted a 55 percent share of 16-34 year olds, which is ITV1’s biggest weeknight 16-34 audience.
The first episode was certainly dramatic as it marked Gillian’s late arrival into the camp, which angered Shaun Ryder.
As Gillian jumps out of a box, she shouts: “I couldn’t let you do this without ‘Jungle Gill’. Hi! I’m back again! 12 years later on the I’m A Celeb show.”
Unimpressed, Shaun replies: “Gillian came out of a box. I was very surprised. I probably could have done without it being Gillian, yeah.”
“How do I feel about Shaun Ryder being here? I said hello, he said hello, it was all very cordial. What can I say?” Gillian comments in the Bush Telegraph,
Meanwhile, Shaun admits: “I’ve been trying to be nice to her. I’m a different person, whatever. I don’t think Gillian was pleased to see me.”

Gillian is also unimpressed with the state of the camp and will complain over the state of their toilet.
After examining the long drop, she moans: “The long drop, it’s disgusting. The toilet roll is saturated. It’s nauseating.”
Going on to complain to Helen Flanagan, she continues: “There’s people ‘widdling’ on the seat. We’re going to have to talk to them.
“There’s going to have to be a discussion about this. It’s embarrassing, it’s disgusting. What if you sit on the seat and there’s the residue of someone before?”
While Gillian is the first campmate to return, Paul Burrell is the bookies’ favourite to be booted out first.
He has been given odds of 2/1 to quit within the first week by bookmakers Ladbrokes.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told Express.co.uk: “It’s been a while since we’ve seen Paul Burrell don the I’m A Celebrity gear, but the odds suggest we won’t be seeing him in it for long in South Africa, with an early exit on the cards.”
Will Paul be able to stay strong in the camp until the end of the series or will he yell out I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! very soon?
I’m A Celebrity…South Africa airs nightly on ITV at 9pm.
