I’m A Celeb’s Babatúndé Aléshé says he ‘regretted’ show and was in ‘total fear’

Former I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestant Babatúndé Aléshé revealed that he thought going onto the ITV show was a "bad idea" and regretted the experience by week two.

The comedian and Gogglebox star entered the jungle for the latest series, where he joined Lioness Jill Scott, royal rugby star Mike Tindall and Loose Women panellist Charlene White.

He became the fifth contestant to be eliminated from the show and Jill Scott later took the crown for Queen of the Jungle.

However, looking back on his time on the show, Babatúndé told This Morning's Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that he initially thought the show was a bad idea shortly after getting started.

"Did you always think it was a good idea [to go into the jungle]?" Phillip asked.

"No," he told the presenters. "That first week went by so quickly.

"But that second week, oh my god. It dragged, the fear of going into trials or challenges was playing on me, a lot of the time I was in total fear," Babatúndé revealed.

"It's hard, it's very tough in there," he added.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Babatúndé spoke about spending time with former MP Matt Hancock after he was sent into the jungle alongside Strictly Come Dancing star Seann Walsh, shocking both campmates and viewers.

"I said to myself, 'I'm going to give him benefit of doubt,' rather than focus on what we know," he said on meeting the former Health Secretary. "I wanted to get to know 'the man'."

Babatúndé laughed, saying: "And I was hungry and he was bringing home the bacon.

"But I had great conversations with him, real deep conversations," he added. "We spoke even more about that situation and he was open and honest, we're still cool to this day."
