I’m A Celeb’s Boy George teary over Matt Hancock’s arrival as he questions leaving

Boy George admitted he was questioning leaving I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on Wednesday night after Matt Hancock's arrival into camp.

The pop icon, 61, was left emotional over the former Health Secretary's, 44, debut claiming he would have walked if his mum, who almost died during the pandemic in hospital, had passed away.

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph he said: "I don't really know what to do with my feelings. You know, today was obviously quite emotional for me.

"I don't know what it's going to be like, I don't know whether I….I actually don't really know if I want to be here."

After leaving the Bush Telegraph he was encouraged to stay and sleep on his thoughts by Corrie star Sue Cleaver.

Sue said: "I think you just have to sleep on it tonight. Look, why he came in and what he's doing here. It's not our responsibility. And it's not for us to take on."

To which Boy George replied: "That's good advice. When did you get so wise."

However despite his feelings, Boy George was in camp when Ant and Dec went in live at the end of the show.

Sue later said: "George was having a bit of a moment. I think if I'm honest that most of us are sort of feeling it's a very strange situation to be in."

Boy George was upset at the inclusion of Matt as his mum almost died during the pandemic.

Speaking earlier in the episode, he told Scarlette Douglas: "You know, beginning of the pandemic my mum was in hospital. I wasn’t allowed to see her. I thought she was going to die.

"I was tweeting Greenwich hospital going, ‘Please look after my mum.’ I used my name, I was like ‘Please look after my mum.’ And they did, she was fine…

"I feel like, I don’t want to be sitting here like I’m having fun with him. It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I wouldn’t be here now. I would have gone when he walked in."

At the end of the episode, Matt was then chosen to do the latest Trial called Tentacles of Terror. It will be his second Trial and the first the public were able to vote for him to do.

He said: "I feel like, I just knew it was going to be me and I still felt nervous."
