CORONATION Street's Alex Bain got treated to a birthday meal by his fiancée Mollie Lockwood.

The actor – who plays Simon Barlow in the ITV soap – celebrated his 21st birthday with his over half over the weekend.


Alex started off his day with a cute coffee date at Bean & Cole in Cheshire with Mollie, 19.

The pair later went to San Carlo Ciccheti in Manchester for some drinks to start off their night.

They later enjoyed a slap-up meal at Piccolino Restaurant.

The pair finished their night at the cocktail bar The Guild.

Just last month the pair revealed that they are engaged.

The dad-of-one gushed: "I can't spend my life with anyone else."

Alex shared the news in a joint interview with Mollie and said he popped the question on a romantic date night last year, but they have managed to keep their huge news under wraps.

Speaking with OK! magazine, Mollie said Alex got down on one knee in October last year – and they told their loved ones over Christmas two months later.

"We wanted to enjoy that special time together, just the two of us, for a while," she said.

Coronation Street star Alex, who has been dating Mollie for two years, added: "I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll keep getting more and more nervous!’ I was pretty certain she’d say yes, but I was still bricking it."

Alex became a became a dad at 17, when his then-girlfriend gave birth to their daughter, Lydia-Rose, in 2018.

Alex has been on Coronation Street for twelve years, playing Ken Barlow’s grandson since joining in 2008.

He’s won Best Young Soap Performance twice – first at the British Soap Awards in 2011, and again in 2004 at the Inside Soap Awards.
