Is Crossfire based on a true story? | The Sun

KEELEY Hawes is back on the box with her latest drama, Crossfire.

Set in a luxurious resort in the Canary Islands, the series is based on one family's holiday from hell.

Is BBC's Crossfire a true story?

BBC One thriller Crossfire tells the tale of a woman on a family holiday whose life gets turned upside down when gunmen suddenly open fire.

However, the show is purely fictional and not a true story.

The series was created and written by Louise Doughty, and is her first original drama for the BBC.

The drama follows Jo, who is on holiday in Tenerife with her family and friends when her world is turned upside down when shots ring out across the complex.

Gunmen, out for revenge, have, in an instant, turned a slice of paradise into a terrifying heart-breaking hell.

A story of survival and resilience, Crossfire is an edge-of-your-seat nail-biting thriller yet also emotional, intimate and relatable.

Is Crossfire based on a book?

Crossfire is not based on a book, and was purely written to be a BBC drama.

But the show's writer Louise Doughty is actually a best-selling author, and has written ten books.

In 2017 her novel Apple Tree Yard (2013) was turned into a BBC series starring Emily Watson.
