Jai and Laurel’s financial woes cause friction in Emmerdale latest
Emmerdale couple Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas might have been getting on better recently, but trouble is on the horizon over their financial woes.
In tonight's episode of the ITV soap, viewers will see a fresh issue erupt between the couple as the extent of their money worries becomes clear.
Jai (Chris Bisson) and Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) have been planning a trip of a lifetime to Australia, but when they take a closer look at their finances, the trip is thrown into jeopardy.
With so many emotions attached to the holiday, the idea that it might not go ahead after all leads to tensions at home and threatens to kick off arguments between them.
Earlier in the year, Jai betrayed Laurel by kissing Leyla, but the couple have battled their way back onto even ground and have been getting on much better, taking in troubled teen Marshall to help him escape his homophobic father.
Recent soap spoilers have teased that an even bigger issue could be on the way for them, though, when Jai stumbles across a life-changing discovery.
While booking their holiday, Jai accidentally reserves the honeymoon suite rather than a family apartment which gives Laurel the idea of proposing when she finds out.
It comes as a surprise, but Jai accepts and then realises he will need his divorce certificate to marry again, so he goes off to his father Rishi's house in search of it.
However, a shocking discovery he will make while looking for the paperwork is set to leave Jai reeling and struggling to accept what he has seen.
With Jai and Laurel both recovering addicts, his extreme reaction will spark worries for Laurel that her fiance's addiction could resurface, but will her fears be proved right?
Elsewhere in the Dales in Friday's episode, the Caleb whodunnit continues to dominate most of the village.
Police are still investigating who could be behind the shocking incident that saw Caleb pushed into a ravine and left for dead – although he survived and is in a coma.
Leyla has not been telling the truth about her alibi after realising it looked rather shaky, while more of the villagers are beginning to point the finger at Mack and Chloe is unable to corroborate the alibi he has given.
Vinny, who had been planning to sell his house to Caleb, is also developing a blossoming friendship with Naomi and in Friday's episode he begins to hatch a plan.
