Jan is confronted by her alcoholic ex-husband in Casualty

The first call of the day for Jan (Di Botcher) and Sah (Arin Smethurst) in Saturday (April 15)’s Casualty is to a homeless man who’s broken into a portacabin – and possibly died there. Jan sends a nervous Sah in to investigate and very quickly discovers that the man isn’t dead – he’s Gethin (Robert Pugh), Jan’s ex-husband and the father of her son Ross.

It’s not a joyful reunion as there’s plenty of animosity between Jan and her ex, who has a serious drink problem. At first he refuses all help, but when Jan threatens to call the police he agrees to get in the ambulance.

In the ED, as Dylan (William Beck) discovers the extent of Gethin’s medical problems, Jan is horrified to discover she’s still listed as his next of kin.

Donna (Jaye Jacobs) has a trying day when a good turn – rescuing a man who has collapsed in the car park – turns into a massive problem. Dylan offers to help her sort everything out but only ends up making things far worse for Donna.

The four new nurses – Jodie (Anna Chell), Ryan (Eddie-Joe Robinson), Rida (Sarah Seggari) and Cameron (Barney Walsh) – continue to settle in to their new jobs and this week Max (Nigel Harman) issues them with a challenge: the one who impresses him most will win a special prize.

And a violent incident at a women’s prison leads to multiple casualties – and one of the new nurses ends up in deadly danger.
