Janine caught at last in EastEnders as Shirley finds photo to prove her guilt

EastEnders’ Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) will rue the day she underestimated Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), who has finally found evidence to prove that her new daughter-in-law isn’t all she claims to be.

Shirley, as viewers know, has been on a mission to expose Janine pretty much since the schemer got her claws into Mick (Danny Dyer).

Mick, however, refused to believe his mother’s claims, simply believing Shirl to have a vendetta against his new lover.

But Shirley’s concerns were understandable, given what the audience know about what Janine has done over the past year. The manipulator single-handedly destroyed her fiancé’s marriage to soulmate Linda (Kellie Bright), who she has repeatedly targeted since.

Linda’s life fell apart thanks to Janine, who framed her for a car crash and almost had her beloved daughter Annie taken away from her.

Mick, however, remains in the dark about all of it, and believes Shirley’s concerns to be nothing more than theories. Unfortunately for Shirl, she had little evidence to prove Janine was up to no good, which is why she set out on a mission to find some.

The popular character succeeded in doing just that, but unfortunately her discovery came after Mick had already tied the knot with Janine.

After discovering that Mick was intending on selling up and moving with Janine to start afresh elsewhere, Shirley threw caution to the wind and starting searching in Scarlett’s (Tabitha Byron) room, hoping to find the photo that the little girl has been keeping guard of.

She found exactly what she was looking for, and upon analysing the picture – which was a selfie taken by Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) – she spotted Janine in the background, disposing of something in the bins behind the car lot.

That something, of course, is the bloodied clothes she was wearing during the car crash back in June when she transported Linda’s body from the passenger seat to the driver’s, framing her love rival for the accident.

‘Gotcha!’ said Shirl, before staring at the newlyweds out the window, determined to rip their world apart and reveal all.

EastEnders continues Christmas Day at 9:25pm on BBC One.
