Janine's EastEnders exit set in motion as Scarlett exposes her crimes to Linda?

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is on the cusp of discovering the truth in EastEnders about Janine Butcher’s (Charlie Brooks) role in framing her for the car crash which nearly claimed her life.

The landlady, as viewers know, was left seriously injured earlier this year after her car was involved in a devastating collision. Janine, who was driving the vehicle, subsequently framed her for the accident, before doing a runner.

Linda’s life has spiralled out of control ever since, as she lost custody of baby Annie and even faced a prison sentence – all because Janine is desperate to get her out of the picture so that she can have a future with Mick (Danny Dyer).

The latest development saw dastardly Janine discover that she was pregnant with Mick’s baby, something which she publicly revealed last week in a bid to further crush Linda.

Scarlett (Tabitha Byron), meanwhile, was left upset by the discovery – all the more so after overhearing Linda discussing how Janine’s first-born will receive little to no attention now that she’s got a baby on the way.

Things took an interesting turn, however, when Scarlett looked at the photo of Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) on the noticeboard in the kitchen – and she soon spotted Janine in the background.

Viewers may recall that the picture in question was taken in the Square gardens back in June, when Frankie enjoyed a night out with Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold).

As the camera panned closer, it became clear that there was something in the background the snap. And by something, we actually mean someone. Janine could visibly be seen behind the car lot, getting rid of her blood-soaked clothing following the crash.

Scarlett, appalled, subsequently approached Linda in the cafe, asking her for a chat. The question is: will she follow through on her plan and reveal all about Janine’s role in her life spiralling out of control?

With Janine set to depart the Square later this year, will her own daughter have an instrumental role in her downfall?

EastEnders continues Tuesday September 27 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
