John Paul attacked by homophobes in heartbreaking Hollyoaks story
John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) will be attacked in Hollyoaks this summer, it has been confirmed, after a group of homophobes set upon him after a night out.
The former deputy high school head teacher is in recovery for alcoholism, after relapsing earlier this year. Upcoming scenes will see him reveal that he feels unhappy in life, claiming he has little to show for his three decades.
Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams) gets wind of John Paul’s upset and decides to take him along to a Pride party at The Loft, where a bunch of homophobes make dreadful and hateful remarks.
John Paul stands up to the bullies, telling them to ‘drag their knuckles’ out the door like the neanderthals that they are, but shocking scenes ensue, with the thugs laying into him outside the venue, beating him up in a horror attack.
The scenes, which were part of Hollyoaks’ brand new Summer Trailer, are previewed below.
Scott becomes seriously concerned for John Paul, who refrains from reporting the assault, telling JP to not be ashamed of who he truly is.

John Paul is adamant that this is not ‘what’s happening’ and it seems like he soon gets support from Carter Shepherd (David Ames), who will make his debut in upcoming scenes.
David Ames, 39, is best known for playing Holby City’s Dominic Copeland.
The actor was delighted to announce the news of his casting in Hollyoaks on This Morning last month.
‘I’m stepping in as the new headmaster’, revealed David, while standing outside The Dog in the Pond. ‘There was a vacancy at Hollyoaks High School so I thought I’d step in and fill the role!’.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4 with first look episodes airing at 7pm on E4, or watch first from midnight on All4.
