Jon Kay admits BBC Breakfast co-star Sally Nugent helps him dress and is 'like his carer' due to secret condition | The Sun

JON Kay has admitted his BBC Breakfast co-star Sally Nugent is 'like his carer' and helps him get dressed due to a secret condition.

Jon, 53, has co-hosted BBC Breakfast alongside Sally, 51, since July last year after Dan Walker left for a new role at Channel 5.

Jon is always well turned out on the programme in a suit and tie, but he has revealed how Sally helps him look so dapper, because he's colour blind.

Jon said: "In the morning I'll be like, 'Sal, does this tie go?' And she goes, 'Ah, no.' She guides me. She's like my carer."

Jon also cites his intake of coffee as another problem since becoming a main anchor on the show.

He told The Mirror: "I drink a ludicrous amount of coffee every morning. I have one when I get in about a quarter to five.

"And we have our meeting, and then i'll have another one before we go on air, and then have four or five more during the programme."

Jon and Sally hosted Monday's show from BBC Breakfast's brand new studio.

The show has launched an all-new 'multi-purpose' studio which will also be shared with BBC Sport.

It's located in the heart of Media City in Salford and the BBC says the studio features the latest broadcasting technology which include new high-tech graphics.

Although it will still feature the iconic red sofa, it's larger than the previous space and three more cameras are on hand to capture the best angles.

Jon said: "We used to be upstairs at the far end of a corridor and kind of hidden away at the end of, and now we're right in the heart of BBC North.

"So it means that when visitors arrive, they'll see the studio, and people will work around us.

"Everybody in the building and space will share it. I think it feels like we're quite a statement right in the heart of the space where we're broadcasting."

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
